Asia: Global Challenges, Regional Conflicts, and National Logics

Call for papers

The organising committee has selected the panels for the DGA Conference on Contemporary Asia 2019 and is inviting submissions for paper proposals.

To submit a paper abstract, please select a panel from the list below to which you want to contribute and click on the panel title. Follow the instructions. Paper proposals should specify the topic, explain its relevance with regard to the panel topic, as well as provide an overview of the core idea (max. 400 words). Please also be sure to include your contact details. Since each panel will only be able to accommodate 3-4 papers, we strongly advise early submission of paper proposals.

If you want to submit a proposal for an individual paper that does not seem to fit into any of the selected panels, please click at the respective link at the end of the list. Only a limited number of papers that are not assigned to one of the panels will be accepted.

The deadline for all paper proposal submissions is October 7, 2018, 6:00pm (CET).

Paper proposal without assignment to one of the selected panels

Paper proposals will be reviewed by the panel organizers in cooperation with the conference organizers. Please be informed that the conference organisers may re-organise or merge panels, form new panels or assign individual papers to panels other than the one selected by the submitter.

Notification of paper acceptance/rejection will be sent until October 22, 2018.
Registration for the conference will start October 22, 2018.

Final acceptance as panel organizer and paper presenter requires conference registration before November 15. This is necessary for issuing formal acceptance letters to participants who need to apply for a German visa. It also facilitates further planning and preparations and ensures that full information on all panels will be included in the printed conference materials.
